Science For Change (SFC) is a knowledge-based and consultancy enterprise that addresses social, environmental and health challenges through co-creation, collaborative research and citizen science towards social innovation. We manage a diverse portfolio of projects funded by European programs such as Horizon 2020 and Horizon Europe, as well as other National, Regional and Local funding schemes, such as international, national, regional and local Public and Private Calls and Tenders. We also have a portfolio of private innovation consultancy projects. Our fields of expertise are many, from sustainability, circular economy, and territorial monitoring, to health, and social sciences and humanities, including the arts. We involve the public in the research process in all our projects to co-produce new knowledge, co-create innovations accepted by all, and inform public policies to improve society. We also use innovative science communication to democratise science, using the arts or digital means to reach wider audiences.

As our Project Manager Specialist in Sustainability, you will design, coordinate and implement sustainability projects within the SFC portfolio.

Responsibilities

The Sustainability Project Manager will act as a researcher, technician and project manager of the projects - European, national or local projects -, in the Sustainability Area, within the Operations Area, in coherence with his/her experience and training. The person will also promote new projects in the Sustainability Area in collaboration with the Business Area.

Project Management

  • Project Leadership & Coordination: Lead and coordinate complex sustainability projects from initiation to closure, including defining objectives, detailed planning, resource allocation, timeline management and implementation. These functions include the follow-up of the work and compliance with the established deadlines, the contact with the European consortium partners and/or clients, the presentation of the projects in events, the attendance to consortium meetings, the preparation of deliverables, dissemination articles and scientific papers, according to the needs and requirements of the project.
  • Partner Liaison: Act as the primary liaison between internal teams, external partners (universities, public administrations, communities), and national/international funding bodies.
  • Grant Compliance, Excellence & Reporting: Ensure strict adherence to grant requirements and reporting guidelines for projects funded by various agencies (e.g., European Commission, Catalan or Spanish government, etc.), while guaranteeing excellence in the deliverables.
  • Monitoring, Evaluation & Impact Assessment: Establish key performance indicators (KPIs), monitor project progress, evaluate outcomes, and assess the overall impact on sustainability goals.
  • Risk Management: Identify potential project risks and develop mitigation strategies to ensure smooth execution and successful delivery.
  • Communication & Dissemination: Contribute to the effective communication and dissemination of project results and impact to diverse audiences, including writing papers, attendance to scientific conferences and/or sectoral fairs, writing blog articles or posts for social networks, etc.
  • Business Development: Contribute to identifying new funding opportunities, synergies or other paths of collaboration, both at the private and public level, and to the design of new projects answering them.

Promotion of new projects within the Sustainability Area

  • Market Transfer: Contribute to the valorization and transfer to the market of the developed methodologies by SFC in the Sustainability Area with the collaboration of the Business Area, by chasing collaboration agreements and new private projects with research organisations and clients.
  • Client Engagement: Engage with external partners (universities, public administrations, private companies, NGOs…) to explore and materialise new business opportunities with the support of the Business Area.
  • Proposal Development: Contribute to the development of proposals, private offers and technical bids to answer to public or private calls or new business opportunities and enlarge the SFC portfolio.

Required Qualifications and Experience

  • University degree in Environmental, Chemical, Agricultural, Agri-food or related Engineering, Environmental Sciences, or related fields.
  • A Master's degree or a PhD in Sustainability, Circular Economy, Environmental Management, or similar will be highly valued.
  • Knowledge of European funding programmes (HE, H2020, Interreg, Eurostars, Life+, Erasmus+, Creative Europe), as well as national (CDTI, FECYT, Next Generation) and regional (Catalonia) funding instruments.
  • Professional proficiency in Spanish, English and Catalan.
  • Minimum of 3 years of demonstrable experience in managing complex projects, preferably in the sustainability, agri-food or circular economy sectors.
  • Experience in managing projects funded by European frameworks and national funds will be highly valued, preferably in scientific or consultancy environments.
  • Solid understanding of sustainability principles, circular economy, climate emergency, biodiversity, and citizen engagement in environmental issues.
