About Science For Change
Science For Change (SFC) is a knowledge-based and consultancy enterprise that addresses social, environmental and health challenges through co-creation, collaborative research and citizen science towards social innovation. We manage a diverse portfolio of projects funded by European programs such as Horizon Europe, as well as other National, Regional and Local funding schemes, such as international, national, regional and local Public and Private Calls and Tenders. We also have a portfolio of private innovation consultancy projects. Our expertise spans a wide range of fields, including sustainability, food systems, circular economy, territorial monitoring, health, social sciences, humanities, and the arts. We involve the public in the research process in all our projects to co-produce new knowledge, co-create innovations accepted by all, and inform public policies to improve society. We also use innovative science communication to democratise science, using the arts or digital means to reach wider audiences.

Are you passionate about driving real, tangible change towards a more sustainable future? Are you a curious, tech-savvy student who loves connecting environmental issues with real-world social impact? Do you have experience or a strong interest in European research projects, stakeholder engagement, citizen science, and writing? We are seeking a Sustainability Intern to join our multidisciplinary team. The ideal candidate combines environmental awareness and technical savvy with strong writing skills, a knack for working with people, and enthusiasm for bridging social sciences with technology. As our Intern, you will support the coordination, research, and implementation of diverse European and national sustainability projects across the SFC portfolio.
Role and Responsibilities
The Sustainability Intern will be supervised and will primarily focus on supporting Air Quality, climate and sustainability projects - European, national or local projects within the Sustainability Area and in collaboration with the Operations Direction.
- Assist in the design and execution of environmental, climate, urban sustainability, and citizen science projects.
- Support field-based activities, including the facilitation of participatory workshops, the assembly and deployment of environmental sensors, and hands-on data collection.
- Support co-design activities, citizen science methodologies, and public engagement processes.
- Bring tech-savviness to the team by assisting in testing environmental monitoring Apps/tools (in coordination with external developers), gathering user feedback, and supporting basic data handling.
- Support the writing and editing of scientific papers, articles, and presentation materials.
- Draft engaging content to communicate project results to diverse audiences.
Required Qualifications & Experience
- Currently enrolled in a Master's degree in Environmental Sciences, Environmental Engineering, Agrifood, Urban Studies, Climate Change, Social Sciences, or related multidisciplinary fields with an environmental focus.
- Strong writing skills, curiosity to research new topics, and the ability to translate technical or scientific concepts into clear, engaging written content.
- Comfortable with technology, digital tools, GIS, or App testing; interest in sustainability and monitoring tools (air quality, climate, odours, noise data).
- Strong interest in citizen science, social sciences, participatory methodologies, and stakeholder engagement.
- Previous experience with Catalan, Spanish and European funding programmes is a plus.
- Professional proficiency in English and Spanish. Catalan is highly valued.
