What we are looking for

We are looking for an enthusiastic, proactive and innovative Communication Specialist to become part of the Communication’s team at Science for Change. The Communication Speacialist’s responsibilities will include the development of strategies and contents for a great communication of the Science for Change projects, actions and events. To be successful in this role, you should be a well-organised great communicator, with excellent writing skills, and be motivated to communicate about innovative projects through different channels. Main duties and responsibilities

The Communication Specialist will have the following duties and responsibilities:

  • Contribute to the design and implementation of the Communication Strategy of SfC, with creativity and commitment, in line with the vision and values of the company.
  • Contribute to the design and implementation of Communication Plans for the different SfC projects and tools (OdourCollect, The International Odour Observatory, etc.) and the business units of the company.
  • Development and dissemination of communication contents for the different SfC projects and tools, through online (media outreach and social media content creation) and offline platforms. Possibility to explore new channels and communication tools and formats to reach a wide variety of target audiences.
  • Research and development of contents for the SfC website focusing on storytelling, web analysis, SEO / SEM positioning.
  • Prepare informative and educational materials, converting scientific concepts into comprehensive, fun and easy to understand texts and graphs, in collaboration with the design team.
  • Provide support to communication and engagement campaigns or events organised in the framework of the SfC projects.
  • Support and evaluate results of communication campaigns with the team.
  • Write press releases and feature articles related to activities, digital tools and events.
  • Build and maintain relationships with journalists and external key role players and follow up on the process to increase the visibility of SfC.
  • Contribute in the writing up of new grant proposals regarding communication activities.
  • Adhere to the company’s style guide, ensuring that high-quality and error-free materials are produced.
  • Any other duties as may be assigned by the CEO, the Communication and the Design Team within the expertise of the candidate.

Training and skills

We are looking for a proactive, trustful, enthusiastic, responsible and methodical person who feels good working autonomously, while supporting the Communication’s Team of the company. We are a young company, mostly composed of women, bold and eager to explore new formats and to boost our communication with creativity.

Requirements:

  • A Degree or Master’s Degree in the field of Communication.
  • Relevant experience in communication and social media strategies.
  • Interest in social media analysis.
  • Knowledge in Digital Marketing: web analysis, SEO / SEM positioning.
  • Ability to use Wordpress.
  • Excellent IT skills in relation to Office and Google WorkSpace.
  • Professional command of English, Catalan and Spanish.  
  • Experience in European Research Projects, including H2020 and Horizon Europe, is a plus.
  • Enthusiastic about Citizen Science and Communication and the interconnection of science and society.
  • Great motivation to communicate about innovative projects related to environment, sustainability, health, citizen science, science communication and co-creation.
  • Creativity and experience in the use of new communication formats and channels.
  • Highly organised, energetic and articulated person with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Ability to multitask and prioritise workloads in a demanding environment. 
  • Proactivity, problem solving skills and adaptation capacity.
  • Team Player.
  • Quick learner.
  • Willing to travel.

Languages

English at a professional level, Spanish and Catalan.
